US 50 South Shore Community Revitalization Project

The Project includes realignment of US 50 from Pioneer Trail to Lake Parkway. The current US 50 will become a local street corridor with a pedestrian and transit-oriented main street. Sidewalks, bike lanes, transportation services, and improved access to retail, dining, and entertainment will be improved. The overall project will include a new pedestrian bridge, pedestrian pathway, two culvert extensions, drainage basins, retaining walls, and utility improvements.

Services include a Foundation Report, Geotechnical Design and Materials Report, Earth Retaining Wall Foundation Report and a Pedestrian Bridge Foundation Report for the various aspects of the project.

Sceptre Drive and Camelot Drive Culvert Crossing Project

The City of Rocklin has observed differential settlement at the road surface of two culvert crossings. The culvert crossings were constructed as part of a housing development circa 1991.
The cause of roadway settlement was mostly due to inadequate compaction of poor quality fill and inadequate pavement sections. Crawford recommended excavating the upper 5-ft and replacing the existing fill with new granular fill, compact to 90-95% relative compaction, and replacement pavement consistent with City design standards.

The Town of Paradise has sustained heavy damage in the wake of the Camp Fire in 2018. The Federal Aid routes (on-system roads) were heavily used during debris removal operations and will continue carrying heavy truck traffic for recovery operations. As result of the Camp Fire, the pavement structural sections on On-System roads were damaged by car fires (leading to pavement scarring) and pavement structural section damage due to heavy truck traffic.

Crawford prepared a Draft Geotechnical Pavement Design Report to evaluate existing pavement and subsurface conditions  along approximately 15 miles of existing pavement.

L Street and Mace Boulevard Pavement Rehabilitation

Crawford prepared Pavement Design Reports for L Street and Mace Boulevard to provide the City of Davis with available rehabilitation options for the roadway segments within the City.

Provided overlay options, recommendations for Full Depth Rehabilitation (FDR), Cold Central Plant Recycling (CCPR), Roller compacted concrete, Deep Lift HMA Replacement, new pavement sections, and considerations for reduced traffic index options. The project involved existing grade constraints, existing high crown issues, changing traffic index and patterns, varying existing pavement section thicknesses, and both industrial and residential situations.

The project will improve an estimated pavement area of 320,000 sq. ft. along W. Main Street from West Street to County Road 98. The project includes pavement rehabilitation, new bicycle lanes, narrower travel lanes, construction of curb, gutter and sidewalks, ADA ramp improvements, traffic signal modifications, and overall aesthetic improvements.

Crawford prepared a Pavement Design Report to outline available rehabilitation options, including Full Depth Reclamation (FDR), FDR – Without Shallow Utilities, FDR – With Shallow Utilities, FDR/Cold Central Plant Recycle, New/traditional Pavement Sections, Full Depth HMA Pavement Sections, and Reflective cracking mitigation.
